RESIDENCY
20 — 31 Aug 2021
Over 10 days at Obsidian Coast, Soda Jerk worked intensively on post-production for their new feature Hello Dankness, the second installment in their Three Colors White trilogy that began with the political revenge fable TERROR NULLIUS (2018). Taking tonal cues from American genre film, net culture and Weimar cabaret, Hello Dankness is a morality play that bears witness to the psychotropic political spectacle of the US election cycles of 2016 and 2020. From the White House to the simmering sewers of 4chan, the film tracks the infectious spread of cultural contagions across the American mythosphere. Continuing a decades-long collaboration with artist Sam Smith, Soda Jerk’s residency focused on compositing and other visual FX from the first half of the film.
